Q: Does Scan & Pin work with Windows 7?
Yes. Scan & Pin has been confirmed to work with Windows 7. Please ensure that you download the latest version of the Scan & Pin software including the DigitalPersona fingeprint drivers.
Q: I have purchased Scan & Pin from Fulcrum Biometrics and they do not offer support for Scan & Pin. Is this correct?
Fulcrum Biometrics are a re-seller for Scan & Pin in the USA. They do not offer any support for Scan & Pin. They are only a sales channel. All enquiries relating to installation, activation and after sales support should be directed to us. Please contact us for assistance.
Q: I have purchased Scan & Pin plus a fingerprint scanner and its will not work on my new Vista 64bit PC. Help?
Sorry, 64bit operating systems and hardware are not supported at this time. Please contact us for further assistance.
Q: I have changed my fingerprint scanner now Scan & Pin fails to launch?
Scan & Pin activation licence files are locked to the fingerprint scanner. When you purchase a new fingerprint scanner you need to purchase a new activation licence. Please contact us for further assistance as you may qualify for a discounted activation licence for a replacement fingerprint scanner.
Q: I am running Windows Vista 32 and get an error when I correctly enter my licence details for activation.
Ensure that you turn off DEP (see here) before installing Scan & Pin. If you have already installed Scan & Pin, Uninstall - reboot the PC and re-install after DEP is disabled. You should also disable UAC (see here) before re-installing the application.
Q: When launching Scan & Pin for the first time, I try to enter the registration details emailed to me, but I get an error?
Prior to release 2.7 of the fingerprint engine, there were issues with the activation routines. These have now been fixed. If you receive an error when activating your product, please contact us and we shall regenerate your registration information. Please ensure you send us your serial id number (xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx) when contacting us. This will help to get a licence file back to you quicker.
Q: I get an error code 39 or error code 339?
Ensure that you copy the comdlg32.ocx file, located in c:\program files\Scan and Pin\bin\ folder to the c:\windows\system32\ folder. Restart you PC and re-launch Scan & Pin.
Q: When scanning a fingerprint, Scan & Pin does not recognise it?
Rescan the fingerprint and if this continues to be a problem on other users, reduce the scanner settings in the configuration editor to record less information when registering a fingerprint. Select a few numbers lower than currently set. This should help to register difficult fingerprints as well as make recognition easier.
Q: Scan & Pin throws an error when I try to use it under a different Windows logon?
You must configure Scan & Pin to either use the default settings under ODBC or change the ODBC connection to use a SYSTEM dsn instead of a USER dsn.
Q: Problems are occurring when I try and import a licence file or enter activation details?
Copy the licence.txt file to the c:\program files\Scan and Pin\ directory and re-start Scan & Pin.
Q: Will I loose my database when installing an update?
It is recommended that you back up your database to another location before installing an update. The database file can be found in the c:\program files\Scan & Pin\database\ directory. Normal updating of software will not update the database.
Q: I have downloaded a new version of the software but when I try and install it an error occurs?
Ensure that you have exited all Scan & Pin applications before attempting to install an update. You should right click on the magenta Scan & Pin icon (next to the clock in the right hand corner of the screen) and select Exit.
